Amy Locane (born December 19, 1971 in Trenton , New Jersey ) is an American actress .

Life

Locane appeared in numerous commercials as a child. In 1984 she got a role on the National Broadcasting Company's sitcom Spencer . In the drama Roadhome (1989) she played on the side of Donald Sutherland . In the comedy Cry Baby (1990) she took on one of the leading roles alongside Johnny Depp . In 1992, she appeared in several episodes of the television series Melrose Place .

For the role in the drama Operation Blue Sky (1994), in which she played alongside Jessica Lange and Tommy Lee Jones , she was nominated for the Young Artist Award in 1995 . In the television drama Unconditional Love (1997) she appeared on the side of Jacqueline Bisset , Peter Weller and Julian Sands . In the thriller I kiss you, I kill you (1998) she played one of the leading roles alongside William McNamara . In the award-winning independent film Secretary - What can I serve? (2002) played alongside James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal .

With her husband Mark Bovenizer, Amy Locane has two daughters, Paige Cricket (born January 2007) and Avery Hope (born January 21, 2009).

After Locane caused an accident while under the influence of alcohol that killed another woman driver on June 27, 2010, she was charged with manslaughter. On November 27, 2012, she was sentenced to five to ten years in prison for manslaughter and three to five years in prison for car assault. Locane served her sentence at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women and was paroled on June 12, 2015. On July 22, 2016, an appeals court ruled that the three-year prison sentence had to be reviewed due to mitigating circumstances that were not adequately stated in the judgment. After the review, the judge responsible for the case declared in September 2016 that the decision had been wrong and that Locane would have to sit in prison for another six months.
