Ana Becciu
Ana Becciu , actually Ana María Becciu , (born July 20, 1948 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine poet and translator.
Life
Becciu studied at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and the Universitat Cathólica de Barcelona and was able to successfully complete this course with a doctorate and habilitation . In 1976 she left Argentina and lived in various European cities. After studying in London and Paris , she got a job at the United Nations in Geneva as a translator, and later moved to their office in Vienna . Ana Becciu also worked as a literary translator for the writers Djuna Barnes , Allen Ginsberg and Tennessee Williams .
Becciu later accepted a position at the Universitat Cathólica de Barcelona and teaches there as “Prof. for literature ”. Since the winter of 1976/77 she has lived alternately in Girona ( Catalonia ), Espolla , the Loiret department (France) and her hometown Buenos Aires. She is also a member of the international writers' association PEN and is committed to promoting the Galician language .
In 2003 she reluctantly accepted the editing of the diary entries of the poet Alejandra Pizarnik , who she still knew, who died of an overdose of barbiturates at a young age. Critics complained that Becciu, together with the Pizarniks' sister, had several passages deleted. "It seems strange that Pizarnik entrusted the then 24-year-old Becciu with such a task, she who otherwise only cultivated friendship with solid and experienced authors".
