André Gumprecht (born November 26, 1974 in Jena ) is a German football player and coach .
Athletic career
Even before reunification , the youngster from FC Carl Zeiss Jena was part of the DFV squad , for example in the 1989/90 season for the GDR U-15 , the younger youth team of coach Dr. Hartmut Wölk. After GDR football was resolved, André Gumprecht, who has since moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen , also played in the DFB's U-teams .
His professional career began at Bayer, where he was unable to assert himself as a junior player in the first team. In 1993 Gumprecht moved to Italy for US Lecce . After 16 games in two years, he moved to Prussia Cologne before he became a SG Wattenscheid 09 player in the same year . At Wattenscheid he was a regular player and made 59 games and one goal. Bayer 04 brought the midfielder back to the Rhine in 1998. He made 27 games in one season, but moved to VfL Halle 1896 in 1999. Other stations were FSV Zwickau and Dresdner SC .
In 2002 Gumprecht moved to Australia and played there for Perth Glory . He scored four goals in 34 games and even won the championship. A season later he was in the squad of Parramatta Power . With his club he was in the last final of the Australian National Soccer League, but had to admit defeat to his ex-club Perth Glory.
In 2004 he played briefly in Singapore for FC Singapore Armed Forces and in 2005 moved to the newly formed Australian A-League for the Central Coast Mariners , where he was voted best player of the year within the team for the 2005/06 season.
After the Mariners lost to Tianjin Teda in the 2009 AFC Champions League in May 2009 and have not yet won a single game, some players, including Gumprecht, were sacked. He moved to the New South Wales Premier League for the Bonnyrigg White Eagles.
From January 2010 he played for Sydney Olympic, where he declared his professional career over on June 16, 2010. He then played on an amateur basis as a midfielder for Lake Macquarie City FC in the Northern New South Wales State Football League .
Coaching career
In May 2010 he became the player-coach of Sydney Olympic, but gave up this post when he retired on June 16. Since 2009 he has been the assistant coach of the women's soccer team Newcastle United Jets Women.
Trivia
In February 2008, Gumprecht disguised himself as Adolf Hitler on the occasion of the Mad Mondays. He then apologized publicly for it. The Australian Football Association initiated disciplinary action.
