André Heller (born December 17, 1975 in Novo Hamburgo , Rio Grande do Sul ) is a Brazilian volleyball player . He took part in three Olympic Games and became world champion twice .

Career

Heller began his career in 1993 in his home country at Frangosul Novo Hamburgo and became Brazilian champion here in 1995. In 1996 he moved to league competitor Ulbra São Luís , with whom he again won the championship in 1998 and 1999. In his other positions at Minas Tênis Clube and Unisul Florianópolis , he was Brazilian champion in 2000 and 2004. In 1998, the middle blocker made his debut in the Brazilian national team . In 2000 he took part with the team for the first time in the Olympic tournament , which ended in sixth place for Brazil. In 2001 he won the world league with the national team . In 2003 another title followed in the world league and his first triumph in the World Cup . In 2004, after winning the world league again, he experienced his second Olympic tournament and won the gold medal with Brazil in the final against Italy . Then Heller moved to the Italian league for Trentino Volley . With the national team there were further titles in the world league in 2005 and 2006 . At the World Cup in Japan , Brazil and Heller prevailed against Poland in the final . The national team won three titles in 2007 in the World League , the Pan American Games and the World Cup . Within the Italian league, Heller moved to Pallavolo Modena , with whom he won the European Challenge Cup in 2008. In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games for the third time ; Brazil lost to the United States in the final and thus received the silver medal. After that, the middle blocker returned to the domestic league and played again for Minas Tênis Clube for two years. In 2010 Heller moved to Brasil Vôlei Clube in Campinas .
