Wesselynowe ( Ukrainian Веселинове ; Russian Веселиново Wesselinowo ) is an urban-type settlement in southern Ukraine in the Mykolaiv Oblast with about 6,000 inhabitants (2016). Wesselynowe is the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .
geography
Wesselynowe is located in the west of the oblast 86 km northwest of the Oblast center Mykolaiv on the river Tschichyklija ( Чичиклія ), a 156 km long right tributary of the southern bow . The nearest town is Voznesensk, 27 km north of the village.
In addition to Wesselynowe, the villages also belong to the settlement council
- Zvenyhorodka ( Звенигородка ) with about 180 inhabitants
- Kremeniwka ( Кременівка ) with about 210 inhabitants.
history
The village was founded in 1790. The village was occupied by Wehrmacht troops on August 11, 1941 and liberated by Red Army troops on March 29, 1944 . Since 1960 Wesselynowe has had urban-type settlement status.

Wesselynowe is the administrative seat of the Rajons founded in 1939. The Wesselynowe Rajon has 23,700 inhabitants and an area of 1245 km². The population density is 19 inhabitants per km². In the west, the Rajon borders on Odessa Oblast .
