Berezanka ( Ukrainian and Russian Березанка ) is an urban-type settlement in Mykolaiv Oblast in southern Ukraine with about 4,100 inhabitants (2019).
geography
Beresanka is located 57 km southwest of the Oblast center Mykolaiv on the Sassyk River (Ukrainian Сасик ), which flows over the Berezan Liman into the Black Sea . The community is located on the M 14 trunk road , which runs along the Black Sea coast from Odessa via Berdjansk and Mariupol to Russia .
In addition to Beresanka, the settlement council also includes the villages:
- Andriivka (Ukrainian Андріївка ) with about 140 inhabitants
- Malachowe (Ukrainian Малахове ) with about 320 inhabitants
- Markiwka (Ukrainian Марківка ) with about 170 inhabitants as well
- Popilne (Ukrainian Попільне ) with about 180 inhabitants.
history
The settlement was founded as a Protestant daughter colony of the Beresan colony by German immigrants with the name Alexanderfeld in 1866.
From 1914 the German name was banned and Suworowe ( Суворове , until 1923) and Tylyhulo-Beresanka ( Тилигуло-Березанка , until 1964) were official place names. Since July 1966, Berezanka has had urban-type settlement status.
