Andray Blatche (born August 22, 1986 in Syracuse , New York ) is an American - Filipino basketball player who is under contract with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the CBA .

Career

Washington Wizards (2005–2012)

Blatche joined the NBA straight from South Kent High School in Connecticut . He was considered a sure first-round pick in the 2005 NBA draft , but was only selected in the second round at position 49 by the Washington Wizards .

During his rookie season, due to a lack of experience, Blatche's playing time was split between the Wizards and the NBA D-League team Roanoke Dazzle . In his sophomore year, Blatche also started several games that were due to the injuries of Etan Thomas . In 2007 Blatche signed a new contract with the Wizards.

In the years that followed, Blatche continued to develop playfully, but repeatedly came into conflict with the law. He was arrested in 2007 for mistaking an undercover police officer for a prostitute . In 2008 he was convicted of endangering road traffic. The Wizards fined Blatche $ 10,000 in January 2010 for participating in the Gilbert Arenas gun scandal .

In terms of sport, Blatche made a name for itself when Antawn Jamison was sold and Blatche became a starter. On February 28, 2010 he achieved a personal career record with 36 points against the New Jersey Nets .

In the 2010/11 season, Blatche was in 63 of 64 games on the grid and earned his best career results with 16.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game. This did not help the wizards, however, as the playoffs were missed again and again. His contract was extended in September 2010 for his good performance. After the lockout ended in 2011, Blatche returned to his team overweight and untrained. His lack of fitness dropped his performance. From March he was no longer used. On July 17, 2012, he was released via the Amnesty clause.

Brooklyn Nets (2012-2014)

On September 6, 2012, it was announced that Blatche will sign a non-guaranteed one-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets . With the Nets he put on 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, whereupon it was decided to extend his contract.

It is estimated that Blatche received one million US dollars for his involvement in the Philippine national team.
