Andre Royo (born July 18, 1968 in the Bronx , New York ) is an American actor . His most famous role is that of Bubble in the HBO series The Wire .

Life

Royo is of African American and Cuban descent. It happened to him more often that he did not get the roles he wanted because, according to the casting agents, he did not come across as convincing as a dark-skinned or a Latino. He attended Mount Saint Michael Academy from 1982 to 1986. He is married with one daughter.

Since 1998 Royo has appeared in more than 70 film and television productions. In 1998 he had his first film role in LA Without a Map . This was followed by occupations in television series and films of various genres. The best-known roles are that of Bubble in the series The Wire , which he played from 2002 to 2008, that of Robert "Bobo" Boston in Hand of God from 2014 to 2017 and from 2015 to 2019 the role of Thirsty Rawlings in Empire .
