Andrea Anastasi (born October 8, 1960 in Poggio Rusco ) is an Italian volleyball coach and former national volleyball player.

Career as a player

Andrea Anastasi began his career as a setter in 1977 at Pallavolo Parma . In 1980 he moved to Panini Modena , with whom he won the CEV Cup in 1983 . Then he went to Kutiba Falconara , where he was again CEV Cup winner in 1986 . In 1987 Anastasi moved to Sisley Treviso . Here, too, he won the CEV Cup in his last year in 1991 . He ended his playing career at Schio Sport and Gioia del Colle .

Since 1981 Andrea Anastasi also played in the Italian national team , with which he completed 141 international matches. The highlights here were the participation in the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , the victory at the European Championship in Sweden in 1989 , the world championship title in Brazil in 1990 and victories in the world league in 1990 and 1991 .

Career as a coach

Andrea Anastasi started his coaching career in 1994 in the A2 series at Pallavolo Brescia . He then moved to Serie A1 to Gabeca Montechiari , where he was a coach for four years. In 1999 he took over the Italian men's national team for four years , with which he won the world league in 1999 and 2000 , was European champion in 1999 and 2003 and won the bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney . From 2003 to 2005 he worked again in the A1 series at BreBranca Lannutti in Cuneo . Then Anastasi took over the Spanish national team , with which he became European champion in 2007 . From 2007 to 2010 he trained again in Italy . From 2011 to 2013 he worked as a coach of the Polish national team .
