Poggio Rusco is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6542 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Mantua in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 33 kilometers southeast of Mantua and borders directly on the province of Modena ( Emilia-Romagna ).
history
While the actual place name does not appear in a document until 1332, the area around Poggio Rusco was owned by Otto III as early as 1082. given to the Bishop of Mantua to please Countess Mathilde von Canossa .
