Rivarolo Mantovano is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2474 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Mantua in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 35 kilometers west-southwest of Mantua .

history

Longobard graves show that the community was settled early on. The history of the place is closely linked to that of the Gonzaga family . Sigismund von Luxemburg gave the municipality to the family in 1432 as a fief. Until 1907 the place was called Rivarolo di Fuori .
