Marmirolo is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7781 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Mantua in Lombardy . The municipality is located about seven kilometers north-northwest of Mantua on the Parco del Mincio . It borders directly on the province of Verona .

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in 970 AD. In 1055 it comes under the rule of Mantua and, like the surrounding area, is ruled by the Gonzaga family.

traffic

Marmirolo is on Strada Statale 236 from Brescia to Mantua. The Mantua- Peschiera del Garda railway line has now been closed, as has the Marmirolo train station (since 1967).
