Andrea Longo (athlete)

Andrea Longo (born June 26, 1975 in Piove di Sacco , Province of Padua ) is an Italian middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter course .

The fifth at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1996 and U23 European Champion from 1997 was national champion over 800 m in 1997 indoors and from 1998 to 2000 and 2005 outdoors. In 2004 and 2005 he was Italian indoor champion over 1500 m .

At the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 , he was eliminated in the quarter-finals. At the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in 1998 he was seventh and sixth at the 1999 World Championships in Seville. In the final of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, he was disqualified for bumping into André Bucher .

In 2001 he was tested positive for nandrolone during a doping control and banned for two years for violating the doping regulations .

In 2003 he was fifth at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , and in 2004 he reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Athens . In 2006 he was seventh at the European Championships in Gothenburg .

Andrea Longo is 1.91 m and weighs 82 kg. He starts for Fiamme Oro and is trained by Fabio Scapin. He has been married to the French sprinter Fabé Dia since 2005 .
