Andrea Santacroce
Andrea Santacroce (born November 22, 1655 in Rome , † May 10, 1712 ibid) was a cardinal and diplomat of the Holy See.
Life
Santacroce came from a Roman noble family and studied civil and canon law at the University of La Sapienza . From 1682 to 1686 he was governor of Tivoli before he was taken over by Pope Innocent XI. was appointed vice delegate in Bologna .
Pope Alexander VIII appointed him titular archbishop of Seleucia in Isauria on December 12, 1689 and apostolic nuncio in the Kingdom of Poland on January 7, 1690 . In addition, Santacroce was appointed papal assistant to the throne . He was ordained bishop on April 16, 1690 by Cardinal Domenico Maria Corsi . Co- consecrators were Giovanni Rasponi , Bishop of Forlì , and Giovanni Francesco Riccamonti , Bishop of Cervia . In 1696 Santacroce was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Vienna.
In the consistory of November 14, 1699 Pope Innocent XII took him . as cardinal priest of Santa Maria del Popolo in the College of Cardinals . In the following year Cardinal Santacroce took part in the conclave that Clement XI. chose. This appointed him in January 1701 Bishop of Viterbo e Toscanella , with the personal title of Archbishop . Andrea Santacroce died in May 1712 and was buried in the Church of Santa Maria in Publicolis .
