Andreas Beuchel

Andreas Beuchel (born October 17, 1963 in Pirna ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian and pastor . Beuchel has been superintendent in the church district of Meißen - Großenhain since 2015 .

Life

Andreas Beuchel, son of Pastor Dietmar Beuchel, grew up in Dittersbach in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district and later in Freiberg and, after finishing school, completed a professional training as a melioration technician with high school diploma in Friesack, Brandenburg, from 1980 to 1983 . As a conscientious objector in the GDR, he was a construction soldier from 1984 to 1985 at the NVA airport in Laage near Rostock. In 1985 he began studying Protestant theology at the University of Leipzig . He finished his studies and vicariate in Skassa and Strießen in 1992 with the second theological exam.

Andreas Beuchel began his first parish ministry in 1992 in the Skassa-Strießen parish in the then parish of Großenhain , where he was also a youth pastor . He was ordained on June 21, 1992. From 1999 to 2007 he was pastor in Dresden - Bad Weißer Hirsch .

From 2007 to 2015, Andreas Beuchel worked as broadcasting officer for the Protestant regional churches at MDR and broadcasting officer for EvLKS. In this function, he designed and directed numerous announcement programs for the Protestant regional churches on the radio and television of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, where he was responsible for church programs on Sundays and public holidays as well as radio devotions and services for MDR 1 Radio Sachsen and MDR Figaro .

Since 2015 he has been pastor of the St. Afra parish of Meißen , cathedral pastor of Meißen and superintendent of the church district of Meißen-Großenhain. In 2017 he was appointed senator in the Senate of Culture of the Free State of Saxony .

At the suggestion of members of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony (EvLKS), Beuchel stood next to Tobias Bilz and Ulrike Weyer for election as regional bishop of the EvLKS on February 29, 2020 .

Honor

In 2019 Andreas Beuchel was honored with the Saxon Constitutional Medal.

Private

Andreas Beuchel is married, lives in Meißen and has two grown children.
