Andreas Birkmann

Andreas Birkmann (born August 14, 1939 in Rheydt / Niederrhein) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Birkmann obtained his doctorate in 1967 in Cologne. jur. and passed his second state examination in law on September 13, 1967 in the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court district. With effect from February 1, 1972, he was appointed judge for life at the Düsseldorf Regional Court . In 1974 Birkmann moved to the Federal Ministry of Justice in Bonn-Bad Godesberg, where he worked for some time as a government director. With effect from June 1, 1978, he moved to the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court as a judge . In 1981 Birkmann was transferred to the Ministry of Justice of North Rhine-Westphalia in the rank of ministerial councilor. In 1986 he followed a call to the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe , where he officially worked as a judge until the end of 1992. At the same time, he also worked in the State Chancellery of the Free State of Thuringia from 1991 . From 1995 he was State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry of Finance.

As Otto Kretschmer's successor , Birkmann became Minister of Justice of the Free State of Thuringia in 1999.

After leaving the state government in 2002, he was initially a co-owner of the law firm Tank, Feber and Birkmann in Karlsruhe . Since January 1st, 2008 he has been with the Erfurt partner company Rechtsanwälte Spilker & Coll. active.

Birkmann was a councilor in the town council of Gernsbach , deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and a member of the board of the CDU Gernsbach municipal association.

Birkmann is a member of the Catholic Family Association, of which he was president from 1996 to 2000. He is a member of the KDSt.V. Borusso-Westfalia Bonn . He is a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG), regional association of Thuringia, of which he was chairman from 1995 to 2003.

Birkmann is a legal advisor and honorary senator of the Thuringia Business Association. He is a holder of the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia.
