Andreas Detlef Jensen
Andreas Detlef Jensen , also Andreas Detlev Jensen (born January 24, 1826 in Glückstadt ; † May 31, 1899 in Kiel ), was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and general superintendent for Holstein .
Life
Jensen was the son of a teacher at the city school in Glückstadt. From 1844 he studied Protestant theology at the University of Kiel and the University of Tübingen .
In the Schleswig-Holstein survey he fought as a volunteer in the Schleswig-Holstein Army . As a head hunter in the 4th Company of the 3rd Jägercorps, he was wounded in the battle of Idstedt by a shot through the right upper arm and, after his recovery, was released as an invalid on January 25, 1851 .
In 1853 he passed the official theological examination in Glückstadt "with very honorable distinction". He was elected deacon in 1855 and senior pastor in Herzhorn in 1856 . In 1859 he was appointed third clerical member of the Holstein consistory in Glückstadt and an examiner.
In January 1865 he moved to Norderbrarup as a pastor . After the Prussian takeover of power in Holstein, on September 20, 1866, the Prussian High Presidium appointed him to be the main pastor of the Nikolaikirche in Kiel . In 1868 he was appointed part-time consistorial councilor and member of the newly established royal Evangelical-Lutheran consistory of the province of Schleswig-Holstein .
On October 16, 1872, he was appointed general superintendent for Holstein of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Schleswig-Holstein as the successor to Wilhelm Heinrich Koopmann . On February 1, 1891, he retired for health reasons.
