Andreas Ignatius Schaepman (born September 4, 1815 in Zwolle , † September 19, 1882 in Utrecht ) was a Dutch clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Utrecht . Schaepman became the first president of the Rijsenburg seminary in Driebergen in 1857 . A year later he became vicar general . Was Schaepman, after the appointment on July 3, on 26 August 1860 by Franciscus Jacobus van Vree , the Bishop of Haarlem , in Rijsenburg to auxiliary bishop in Utrecht and titular bishop of Esbus ordained . After the resignation of Johannes Zwijsen, he was appointed Archbishop of Utrecht on February 4, 1868.

As archbishop, Schaepman was committed to the emancipation of Catholicism in the Netherlands. He supported the foundation of Catholic schools and the establishment of congregations such as the Fraters van Utrecht and the attendant van Sint-Joseph , who v. a. of Catholic education. Andreas Ignatius Schaepman promoted ecclesiastical art and historiography, for example with the restoration of the Catharijnekerk in Utrecht in neo-Gothic style.

Schaepman took part in the First Vatican .
