Andreas Karlsson (born August 19, 1975 in Ludvika ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for the Atlanta Thrashers and Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League during his active career .
Career
Andreas Karlsson began his career as a hockey player in the youth of Leksands IF , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 1992/93 season . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in the sixth round as the 148th player of the Calgary Flames , for which he never played. Instead he signed after another six years in Leksand for the 1999/2000 season with the Atlanta Thrashers from the National Hockey League . At the same time, the attacker played in his rookie year in the NHL for Atlanta's farm team , the Orlando Solar Bears from the International Hockey League .
After the Swede had started the 2001/02 season in the NHL team of the Thrashers, he finished it with their new farm team, the Chicago Wolves from the American Hockey League , with whom he won the Calder Cup . In the playoffs, with 21 points scorer, including seven goals, in 23 games he was one of the players with the best point yield of his team. The Swede also spent the entire 2002/03 season with the Wolves in the AHL. In the summer of 2004 he received a contract with the newly promoted EHC Basel from the Swiss National League A , which he left after only one year after its direct relegation to sign in his Swedish homeland with HV 71 Jönköping . For this he played for two years as well as for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL. From the 2008/09 season , the 2006 world champion ran for Frölunda HC in the Elitserien. In March 2011 Karlsson ended his playing career.
International
For Sweden , Karlsson took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 1995 and the World Championships in 1996 and 2006 .
