The Mythen-Center is a shopping center in Ibach SZ in the southern part of the municipality of Schwyz in the canton of Schwyz with 56 specialist shops on 19,930 m². It was opened on March 16, 1972 and has undergone major renovations three times since then, most recently in 2015 when the previously yellow facade was replaced by gray panels. It is operated by its own management company, Mythencenter AG, which has now also taken on this task for residential buildings, for example in Brunnen .

In 2007 the shopping center had an annual turnover of 200.5 million Swiss francs. This makes it the largest shopping center in the inner part of the canton of Schwyz, its catchment area extends as far as the canton of Uri , although there are also shopping centers there with the Urnertor centers in Bürglen and the Schattdorfer Tellpark. The area is 19,930 m². In 2010 it was ranked 18th among Swiss shopping centers in terms of sales.

When the mall opened, it was almost alone in the open field a little north of the Ibächler village center - today it is surrounded by several residential areas. The Victorinox headquarters are opposite the shopping center . It is located on the Schwyz - Brunnen road and is served by the two Schwyz municipal bus routes 30 and 31 as well as the regional bus routes 2 (Schwyz - Brunnen - Küssnacht am Rigi ) and 3 ( Rickenbach - Schwyz - Ibach - Schwyz - Seewenmarkt) operated by Auto AG Schwyz opened up. The bus stop used to be called Mythen Center-Victorinox, but the name affix of the knife manufacturer has now disappeared. Underground garages, parking spaces and roof parking are available for private transport. The distance to the Schwyz motorway junction is around six kilometers, but only two kilometers to Brunnen Nord in the Ingenbohl community.

Tenant

The main tenant is the Migros group, which in addition to the supermarket also operates branches of its subsidiaries melectronics , Ex Libris , Herren Globus , Do it & Garden Migros , SportXX and the furniture chain micasa in the Mythen Center. Other well-known shop tenants are Mythen Apotheke Drogerie, The Body Shop , Manor , Dipl. Ing. Fust , H&M , Qualipet , Esprit , the Charles Vögele Group , Vögele Shoes and the Schwyzer Kantonalbank .

Since 2004, the mall has had a rival within the Schwyz municipality, the Coop-operated seewen markt in the Seewen part of the municipality , which is a lot smaller with 21 shops, but is much closer to the motorway. There are some chain stores such as Qualipet, Vögele Shoes or Chicorée , which are present in both shopping centers. Esprit first opened a branch in seewen markt, but closed it after a while before one of the chain's stores opened its doors in the Mythen Center.
