Andreas Redtenbacher

Andreas Redtenbacher (born May 8, 1953 in Vienna ) is an Austrian Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1959 to 1963 he attended elementary school in 1020 Vienna and at the Albertus Magnus School Vienna (1963–1971) he passed the Matura with commendation. He made the novitiate (1971–1972) in the Augustinian Canon Monastery of Klosterneuburg . The study of specialist theology (1972–1977) graduated from the University of Vienna with a Magister Theologiae . From 1976 to 1977 he worked as an altar boy assistant for the Archdiocese of Vienna and a member of the diocesan guide of the Catholic youth group of the Archdiocese of Vienna. On February 19, 1978 was ordained a priest. He completed his licentiate studies (1978–1979) at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome as lic. theol. with magna cum laude , where he also on 14 June 1983 to the doctor of theology ( summa cum laude ) doctorate was. The supplementary course (1979–1980) of the independent religious pedagogy course of study (teaching post for secondary schools and academies) as he graduated as a master of the independent religious pedagogical course . As a religion professor (1979–1990) he taught at the Federal High School in Klosterneuburg . From 1980 to 1995 he was principal of the middle school center. He was a member of the faculty committee, the study committee and several habilitation and appointment commissions. During the vacancy of the chair in 1984/1985 he was a scientific institute administrator. On September 1, 1984 he was appointed member of the Diocesan Commission for Liturgy, Vicariate Council and Chairman of the Liturgy Committee of the Vicariate Vienna City (reappointments: 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, since 1999 also member of the Board of the Vicariate Council). From 1985 to 1990 he was a supervisory teacher for candidate teachers, chairman of the group of professors of religion at the BG Klosterneuburg. From 1986 to 1999 he lectured at the University of Vienna as a lecturer in liturgical science. From 1990 to 2001 he was pastor of St. Vitus . From 1995 he conducted research at the German Liturgical Institute in Trier .

On March 14, 1997 he was appointed to the Archbishop's Spiritual Council . On February 4, 1998, he was appointed chairman of the working group of liturgical consultants of the Austrian dioceses in Salzburg. From 1999 to 2001 was a member of the Pastoral Council of the Archdiocese of Vienna. On September 14, 1999 he was appointed Archbishop Consistorial Councilor. In 2001 he was released from the parish pastoral care for his habilitation . The international symposium, Pius Parsch in the liturgical science reception, led 2004. Guest lectures in Hungary at the Phil.- Theol. He held the universities of Győr and Veszprém in 2004. He founded the Liturgy Science Society Klosterneuburg on November 26, 2004. He headed the symposium Occasion Services - Between Theological Claim and Pastoral Reality of the Liturgy Commission of the Austrian Bishops' Conference in 2005. On June 1, 2007 he became head of the diocesan advisory council appointed for the training and further education of the liturgical offices and services in the Archdiocese of Vienna. He was elected President of the Liturgical Science Society in Klosterneuburg on January 17th, 2008. He held a guest lecture at the University of Heiligenkreuz in 2005. After his habilitation and appointment as a private lecturer at the PTH Vallendar on November 25, 2008, he was appointed professor for liturgical science and theology of the sacraments at the Philosophical-Theological University Klosterneuburg on January 1, 2009. At the same time on January 1, 2009 he was entrusted with the chair of liturgical science at the PTH Vallendar , where he will be teaching as a visiting professor from July 22, 2011 . On October 10, 2011, Klosterneuburg was appointed director of the Pius Parsch Institute. On March 3, 2012, he was accepted as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts .

His research focuses on the concept of liturgy in theology of the 20th century, the liturgy constitution of the Second Vatican Council Sacrosanctum Concilium , Pius Parsch research, baptism and catechumenate (history, theology, practice), the liturgical space, basic topics and liturgical spirituality.
