Andreas Roegels , also Andreas Rögels (* 1870 in Barmen , Rhine Province ; † May 3, 1917 in Berlin ), was a German landscape , portrait , figure and genre painter and graphic artist from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Roegels, son of the Barmer portrait painter and photographer Franz Rögels , studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1888 to 1890 . There he was a student of Peter Janssen the Elder and, under the nickname "Slim", he was a member of the Tartarus student association . He then moved to Munich , where he painted Nymphenburg lidded vases with carnival scenes and park landscapes. He then lived in Venice for ten years . In 1897 and 1899 he exhibited at the local biennale , in 1899 symbolist women named Calipso and Sirene . Later he lived on Usedom , in Charlottenburg and Wilmersdorf near Berlin.
