Andrei Sergejewitsch Arshavin ( Russian Андрей Сергеевич Аршавин ; English transcription: Andrei Arshavin ; born May 29, 1981 in Leningrad , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian football player . Born in Leningrad, Arshavin, he graduated from the famous football school in his hometown “Smena” before being signed by Zenit in 1999.
