Andrei Valeryevich Parashchenko ( Russian Андрей Валерьевич Паращенко , born May 3, 1969 ) is a Belarusian handball official and former handball player .
Career
Andrei Paraschtschenko comes from the talent factory at SKA Minsk . With the army club won the middle back player besides the Soviet championships in 1988 and 1989 and the 1988 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the 1989 and 1990 European Champions Cup . After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he was one of the large number of top Soviet players who moved to the Spanish ASOBAL league . From then on he ran on the Canary Island Gran Canaria for BM Gáldar . Although he could never win a title with Gáldar , he stayed with the club until the end of his career. The two-time top scorer of the ASOBAL league even turned down an offer from FC Barcelona, which was overpowering at the time . Internationally, he reached the final in the 1994/95 Euro City Cup , which he lost to TV Niederwürzbach . The following season he was eliminated from the same competition in the quarterfinals against IFK Skövde HK . In the 2001/02 season he played again in the EHF Cup , in which he failed in the semi-finals at FC Barcelona. After he was relegated to the fourth division with Gáldar, he ended his career. Paraschtschenko scored a total of 1241 goals in the ASOBAL league.
With the Belarusian national team , he finished eighth at the 1994 European Championships and ninth at the 1995 World Cup , where he also took tenth place on the top scorer list with 45 goals. In total, he played 40 international matches for Belarus , in which he scored 194 goals. In 1994 Parashchenko and his compatriot and Spanish legionnaire Mikhail Jakimowitsch had the offer to take on Spanish citizenship . Both refused.
Andrei Paraschtschenko has been working as a sports director for the Belarusian handball club HC Dinamo Minsk for several years .
