Mikhail Ivanavich Jakimowitsch ( Belarusian Міхаіл Іванавіч Якімовіч , Russian Михаил Иванович Якимович , Mikhail Ivanovich Jakomowitsch * 12. December 1967 in Slutsk ) is a former Belarusian handball player on the half-left position.
Yakimovich started at SKA Minsk . There he won the championship in 1986, 1988 and 1989, the EHF Champions League in 1987, 1989 and 1990 , the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1988 and in 1992 was again in the final of the IHF Cup . After moving to CB Cantabria Santander , he continued to win the Spanish championship there in 1993 and 1994 , the Copa del Rey de Balonmano in 1995 , the Copa ASOBAL in 1997 and 1998 , the Spanish Supercup in 1993 and 1995, the EHF Cup in 1993 and the European Cup in 1998 Cup winners and, as the highlight in 1994, again the EHF Champions League. With SDC San Antonio he won the Spanish championship in 2002, the Copa del Rey de Balonmano in 2001, the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2000 and 2004, the European Club Championship in 2000 and finally the EHF Champions League again in 2001.
With a total of ten European Cup victories, Jakimowitsch won the European Cup and the Champions League five times . Like Mateo Garralda , José Javier Hombrados and Siarhei Rutenka , he managed to do this with three different clubs.
Mikhail Jakimowitsch became vice world champion with the Soviet national team in 1990 . He won with the CIS at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona gold . With Belarus he took part in the European Championship in 1994 and the World Cup in 1995 , where he was third on the scorers list with 57 hits.
