José Javier Hombrados Ibáñez (born April 7, 1972 in Madrid , Spain ) is a Spanish handball goalkeeper . He plays for the Spanish club BM Guadalajara and ran for the Spanish national team . He has been a record player in the ASOBAL league since the 2015/16 season .
Career
society
José Hombrados started playing handball at BM Safa. He played his first league games in the Spanish ASOBAL league for Atlético Madrid, where he made it to the final of the Copa del Rey de Balonmano for the first time in 1991 . In 1993 he went to CB Cantabria Santander . Here he won the Spanish championship and the EHF Champions League in 1994 and the Copa del Rey de Balonmano in 1995. After a short interlude at SD Teucro , he moved to Ademar León in early 1996 , where he again won the Copa ASOBAL and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1999. In 2000 he was hired at SDC San Antonio , where he won the EHF Champions League, the Club European Championship and the Copa del Rey de Balonmano in 2001 and the Spanish championship in 2002.
In 2002 he moved to BM Ciudad Real , where he played until 2011. Here he won the 2003 European Cup Winners' Cup and the Copa del Rey de Balonmano, the Spanish Championship and the Copa ASOBAL in 2004, the Copa ASOBAL and the Spanish Supercup in 2005, the EHF Champions League, the Club European Championship and the Copa ASOBAL as well 2007 the Spanish championship, the Copa ASOBAL and the European Club Championship. In 2008 the Spanish Championship, the Spanish Cup, the Spanish Supercup, the Copa ASOBAL and the EHF Champions League followed. In 2009 he again won the Spanish championship and the EHF Champions League. In 2010 another Spanish championship was added. From 2011 to 2013 he guarded the goal of BM Atlético de Madrid , who took over the league license from BM Ciudad Real. At the Super Globe 2013 he played for the Qatari club Qatari Al Sadd . He then signed a contract with the German Bundesliga club HSG Wetzlar to represent Magnus Dahl for a few weeks . After spending the rest of the season in Qatar at al-Sadd Sport Club , he returned to Wetzlar for the 2014/15 season. He has been under contract with BM Guadalajara since summer 2015 .
Hombrados is the only goalkeeper and next to Siarhei Rutenka the only player ever to have won the EHF Champions League with three different teams.
National team
José Hombrados has made 262 international appearances for the Spanish national team and scored one goal. He won bronze at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, silver at the European Championships in 1996 and 2006, and gold at the 2005 World Cup . At the 2007 World Cup in Germany he was eliminated with Spain in the quarter-finals against Germany and only finished seventh. At the 2011 World Cup he won the bronze medal with the Spanish team.
