Andri Sigþórsson (German transcription Andri Sigthorsson ; born March 25, 1977 in Reykjavík ) is a former Icelandic football player who played for the national team and outside Iceland for clubs in Germany, Austria and Norway.

Career

Emerging from the youth department of KR Reykjavík , Andri Sigþórsson played the 1993/94 season in the youth department of FC Bayern Munich . Then he moved up to the second team, for which he played 13 point games in two seasons in the third-rate Regionalliga Süd and scored one goal. This he succeeded on November 19, 1995 (16th matchday) in a 2-2 draw in the home game against SV Darmstadt 98 with the goal to make it 1-1 in the 56th minute. He made his debut on February 26, 1995 (19th matchday) in a 2-0 win at home against KSV Hessen Kassel .

In 1997 , when he returned to Iceland , he played for the first division team KR Reykjavík until 2000 , with whom he won the national cup once and the championship twice. He made his debut on June 3, 1997 in a goalless draw in the home game against KS Leiftur ; he scored his first goal on May 29, 1997 in the 3-1 defeat in the away game against Valur Reykjavík with the goal to 2-1 in the 73rd minute. During this time he was given on loan from November 1997 to May 1998 to the second division club FSV Zwickau ; for which he only completed five consecutive point games.

After his time at KR Reykjavík, he moved to Austria for SV Austria Salzburg , for whom he played 24 games in the Bundesliga until August 2001 and scored three goals. During the current 2001/02 season , his contract was dissolved by mutual agreement in order to play for the Norwegian first division team Molde FK . From September 2001 to the end of the season in November 2003 he played 17 point games and was able to excel seven times as a goalscorer. He played his last game as a footballer on April 13, 2003 (1st matchday) in the 0-1 defeat in the away game against Odds BK over 90 minutes.

National team

He made his debut in the national jersey in the U17 national team, which lost 2-0 to England on August 6, 1992. Three days later he scored his first two international goals in an 11-0 win over the Faroe Islands .

On March 26, 1994, he played his first of nine international matches for the U19 national team in a 1-0 victory over the Swiss selection . For the U21 national team , he completed four matches, his first on June 1, 1996 in a 2-0 victory over Macedonia , before he was promoted to the national team and in this on March 24, 2001 in the 1: 2 Defeat to Bulgaria's national team debuted. He scored his first international A goal on September 1, 2001 in a 3-1 victory over the Czech national team with a goal of 2-0 in the 66th minute. The goalless draw on January 8, 2002 in the encounter with the Kuwaiti national team was his last game for the KSI .
