Andrzej Jeż (born May 3, 1963 in Limanowa , in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland ) is a Roman Catholic theologian and was born on May 12, 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Tarnów .

Life

After graduation he joined in 1982 in the seminary in Tarnow and received on 12 June 1988 by the Archbishop Jerzy Karol Ablewicz the priesthood .

Initially active in parish pastoral work, his bishop sent him to study at the Catholic Theological Academy in Warsaw and then to the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . He became rector of the seminary in Tarnów, where he taught homiletics from 1999 to 2007 . In 2002 he received his doctorate in dogmatics from the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow .

On October 20, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as auxiliary bishop in Tarnów and at the same time titular bishop of Tigillava . The bishop of Tarnów, Wiktor Skworc , donated him episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz , the Archbishop of Kraków , and Archbishop Józef Kowalczyk , the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland.

His episcopal motto is: Ad laudem Trinitatis et Deiparae (“In praise of the Trinity and the Mother of God”). This appears in his coat of arms together with a representation of the Trinity and the Incarnation (cross over an ornate "M").

On May 12, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. to the Bishop of Tarnów. The introduction to his diocese was on June 15, 2012 at the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Mary in Tarnów.
