The Anfi Group ( Spanish Grupo Anfi ; English Anfi Group ) is a tourism company based in Gran Canaria. With Anfi del Mar and Anfi Tauro Golf & Luxury Resorts, it has two holiday complexes with a total of five hotels in the southwest of the island. The company is owned equally by IFA Hotel und Touristik AG and the Spanish Santana Cazorla group of companies and is a member of the European Resort Development Organization (RDO) .

history

The Anfi project was started in 1988 by the Norwegian entrepreneur Bjørn Lyng . The operating company Anfi International was founded in 1992. By 2003, the four holiday clubs Anfi Beach Club (1993), Club Puerto Anfi (1996), Club Monte Anfi (1999) and Club Gran Anfi (2003) were established in Patalavaca, a town between Arguineguín and Puerto Rico. These have shared parks, a shopping center , a marina , a planned island in the shape of a heart and an artificially created sandy beach. Most of the natural rock removed during construction was reused. In total, Anfi del Mar has 869 apartments and around 33,000 member families worldwide.

In 2002, construction work began on the Anfi Tauro Golf & Luxury Resorts in the Tauro Valley. The first hotel in the new resort, the Anfi Emerald Club with two hotel golf courses (9 and 18 holes), was completed in 2008. In July 2015, the construction of a 300 m long and 50 m wide sandy beach began. The subsequently announced projects, the realization of which was approved by the Spanish Ministry of the Environment ( Ministerio de Medio Ambiente ) in 2015 , include a sports port with 400 berths, several hotels with a total of 7,500 beds and a shopping center with a sales area of 18,000 m².

Investors

In December 2000, the German Preussag AG (since 2002: TUI ) acquired the majority stake in the hotel chain with a stake of 51%. In 2004 TUI sold its stake again for strategic reasons, at a price of 44.3 million euros to Anfi International, which belongs to the Lyng Group. The Canarian group of companies Santana Cazorla, which in addition to its core business, the construction industry, recently invested heavily in tourism , acquired 50% of the company shares in the same year. In 2016 the Gran Canaria-based Lopesán Group took over the shares of the Lyng Group through its subsidiary IFA.
