Ángel San Casimiro Fernández

Ángel San Casimiro Fernández OAR (born September 16, 1942 in Pradejón ) is Bishop Emeritus of Alajuela in Costa Rica .

Life

Ángel San Casimiro Fernández joined the order of the Augustinian Recollects and was ordained a priest on October 3, 1965 . John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Ciudad Quesada on July 25, 1995 .

The apostolic nuncio in Costa Rica , El Salvador and Belize , Giacinto Berloco , consecrated him on October 7th of the same year as bishop ; Co- consecrators were Román Arrieta Villalobos , Archbishop of San José de Costa Rica , and José Rafael Barquero Arce , Bishop of Alajuela .

As a motto , he chose Vobis enim sum episcopus, vobiscum sum christianus . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on July 3, 2007 Bishop of Alajuela. His request for resignation, which was properly submitted after reaching the age of 75, was accepted by Pope Francis in 2018.
