Angela Plöger

Angela Plöger (born March 6, 1942 in Danzig ) is a German translator .

Life

Angela Plöger completed her studies in Finno-Ugric and Slavic Studies in 1973 with a doctorate at the University of Hamburg . Today she lives in Hamburg as a sworn translator . She also translates novels , short stories , plays and non-fiction books from Finnish , Hungarian and Russian into German . Angela Plöger is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ, and of the Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators .

In 2014 she received the Finnish State Prize for Foreign Translators and in 2016 the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Lion of Finland .

She is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
