Anita Rottmüller-Wörner

Anita Rottmüller-Wörner , née Anita Wörner (born February 24, 1942 in Eisenberg , Pfalz ), is a former German athlete and Olympic participant.

Life

Rottmüller-Wörner was 1.75 m tall and 65 kg in her competition time and started for the sports clubs Phönix Ludwigshafen , ABC Ludwigshafen , VTV 1883 Mundenheim, Post-SG Mannheim and VfL Neuhofen. She was an administrative employee and ran a sports shop with her husband in Neuhofen .

Under her maiden name Wörner, she won several German championship titles in her youth and among the juniors. In the adult category, she won the 800-meter run in the hall for the first time in 1961 . The following year she was runner-up in the Free German Championship and took part in the European Championships in Belgrade . 1963 Wörner again won the German championship over 800 meters in the hall and also the title in the short distance cross running . A year later she took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo , where she was eliminated in the interim.

In 1966 Wörner qualified for the European Championships in Budapest , and the following year she represented the German colors at the European Cup in Kiev. In 1968 she became German champion in short-distance cross-country for the second time and won the national title over 800 meters for the third time in the following indoor season. Outdoors Wörner won her only German 800 meter championship in 1969 (2: 08.4 min) and also won the 3 x 800 meter relay ( Sigrid Rosenberger , Rosemarie Fuhrmann , Anita Rottmüller) of the Post-SG Mannheim (6: 41.4 min). She was nominated for this year's European Championships in Athens , but could not start because of the DLV boycott .

Top performances

Wörner ran two indoor world records - over 880 yards 2: 15.5 minutes on April 7, 1962 in Wembley and over 800 meters 2: 10.9 minutes on March 9, 1963 in Berlin. On August 16, 1967, she was involved in a world record in the 3 x 800 meter relay race in Düsseldorf (6: 21.0 min: Antje Gleichfeld , Anita Rottmüller, Karin Kessler ). Her personal bests were over 800 meters at 2: 04.9 min (1968) and over 1500 meters at 4: 27.4 min (1972).
