Ann Doran
Ann Doran (born July 28, 1911 in Amarillo , Texas , as Ann Lee Doran , † September 19, 2000 in Carmichael , California ) was an American actress .
Life
Ann Doran started her film career at the age of eleven at the side of Douglas Fairbanks in the adventure film Robin Hood . In the course of her long career she should be seen in at least over 200 films and about 250 television episodes, according to other sources it should be even 500 films and 1000 television episodes. After Doran initially only worked as a double or small actress in Hollywood, she got her first substantial roles from 1938 under contract with Columbia Pictures . In particular, film director Frank Capra repeatedly used the character actress in supporting roles in his films. In many films she played mothers, aunts or maids. Doran played her most famous and one of her greatest roles in 1955 as the dominant mother of James Dean in the classic film ... because they don't know what they're doing .
In later years, Ann Doran was mainly seen in television productions, such as a guest star in Bonanza , In Love with a Witch , Fantasy Island , M * A * S * H , Cagney & Lacey and in 1988 in her last role in the series Hunter . She last played on television in 1988.
Private life
Ann Doran was the daughter of actress Rose Allen. Ann Doran had neither been married nor had children. She died in 2000 at the age of 89.
