Anna Depenbusch (born October 17, 1977 in Hamburg ) is a German songwriter .

Career

In 2005, Anna Depenbusch released her debut album In the Face , a crossover of pop and chanson . The song Heimat from this record was nominated for the German Music Author Award. Above all, the relaxed and personal approach to this difficult topic in Germany was praised.

With her second album, Die Mathematik der Anna Depenbusch from 2011, she quickly established herself as a pop chanson singer in the German music scene. On December 9, 2010, Anna Depenbusch performed the song Commando Downfall from Die Mathematik in the program Inas Nacht . In retrospect, Depenbusch describes this appearance as the spark for her career. The song was published with nine other guest appearances on the bonus CD Inas kleine Nachtmusik with Ina Müller's album Ich bin die . Due to the great success of the album, she recorded the songs again in the same year in a version only with piano and published it under the title Die Mathematik der Anna Depenbusch in black and white . In 2012 she was awarded the Fred Jay Prize and the German Chanson Prize .

Her fourth album, Summer from Paper , was released on October 5, 2012, including a duet with Mark Forster . In 2014 she performed at the Festival Songs on a summer evening at Kloster Banz.

Depenbusch writes, composes and produces himself so that it can be assigned to the songwriters . However, Anna Depenbusch does not want to commit herself stylistically and experiments with different genres such as blues and country , although unmistakable musical elements from the chanson can be heard in her music.

In addition, she is also active in other styles under pseudonyms . As Anastasica, she has been cooperating with the Hamburg chill-out project Max Melvin since 2003 . At Christmas 2008 she contributed the music for the commercial for the German telecommunications company T-Mobile under the pseudonym Ella Larsson with Lara's Song .

Before her solo career, Depenbusch sang in the background of Orange Blue, among others .

Depenbusch received a practical scholarship from Villa Massimo in 2016/2017 .

Depenbusch was under contract with the 105music label until it was sold in 2015 . With the sale to Sony Music , she was given a team of producers and writers at her side. Depenbusch was not satisfied with the resulting, unpublished recordings. She switched to the Sony subsidiary Columbia , where her self-written and produced album Das Alphabet der Anna Depenbusch was released.

In 2019 Anna Depenbusch founded her own label Liedland Records , on which she released her current album with Realtime 2020. Real-time was the first of their albums to be created using a special recording process, direct vinyl recording in the Emil Berliner Studios.

Reviews

On the occasion of their tour start in September 2011, the Hamburger Abendblatt wrote :

“Anna Depenbusch, who really hits every note, switches effortlessly between chest and head voice, but her register changes are no artist work for the sake of a show effect. She is not a jazz singer in disguise who, for the fun of virtuoso joy, cannot stop the warbling. Their melodies go the same way. Anna Depenbusch's singing is like a balloon filled with helium, which she prevents from flying away with the earthiness of her rudimentary, but not at all amateurish piano playing. "

- Tom R. Schulz : Anna Depenbusch: A fabulous solo debut

The Hamburger Feuilleton judges the mathematics of Anna Depenbusch in black and white :

“What came out of this are new arrangements that are sometimes more filigree, sometimes more powerful, sometimes just with knocking on the piano body. And this voice comes with a color that blows your mind. Anna Depenbusch not only sings, she enters into dialogue with the instrument, she flirts with us, she whispers, whistles and cheers. So infinitely sad, so exuberantly happy, so all in all black and white as life is with its innumerable shades of gray in between. "

- Natalie Fingerhut : Lady of the castle without a bike

The following review of the album Sommer aus Papier also appeared in the Hamburger Feuilleton :

“Telling such self-twisting stories is one of Anna Depenbusch's undeniable strengths. Another of these stories is "Benjamin" - the name of a neighborhood love that is over. Lies and self-deception are part of such everyday dramas. […] With someone else it would be a simple song and an embarrassing performance in the chorus - with Anna Depenbusch it turns out to be a finely chiseled snapshot of a major injury. This record is a perfidious masterpiece. And it's also very colorful. "

- Matthias Schumann : liming rod

laut.de judges summer made of paper :

“Even if some things seem innocent and traditional at first glance: sooner or later every Depenbusch song develops a unique life of its own. [...] The production is airy and warm, of course the artist accompanies herself on the piano again. The current band members are exquisitely selected and are consistently top-class. "

- Artur Schulz : With all due respect, you have some stardust there
