Fred Jay Prize

The Fred Jay Prize has been awarded to German-language songwriters since 1989 . It is reminiscent of the Austrian lyricist Fred Jay (1914–1988) and was donated by his widow Mary Jay-Jacobson. The award is endowed with 15,000 euros and is given under the patronage of the GEMA Foundation to artists who have achieved success in the field of popular German-language songs and who have made a contribution to the creation and promotion of German texts. It is not possible to apply yourself.

The jury

The jury for the Fred Jay Prize is made up of former winners: Burkhard Brozat and Frank Ramond (both lyricists on the GEMA Culture Committee) as well as Anna Depenbusch , Claudia Jung and Pe Werner
