Anna Elisabeth Prinz (born June 4, 1955 in Bad Münstereifel ) is a German diplomat . She has been Ambassador to Sweden since July 2019 . Before that, she was Ambassador to Australia (2016 to 2019) and Ambassador to Slovenia (2013 to 2016).

Life

After graduating from high school in 1974, Anna Prinz began studying political science , Russian language , law and English at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , where she also worked as a research assistant . After her doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. In 1983 she began a two-year postgraduate course in administrative management , economics and international relations at Harvard University in 1984 with the support of the McCloy Academic Scholarship Program , which she completed in 1986 with a Master of Public Administration (MPA).

In 1986 Anna Prinz started the preparatory service for the higher foreign service and after its graduation was head of the press and culture department at the embassy in Sri Lanka between 1988 and 1990 , before she was advisor for international raw materials agreements at the foreign office in Bonn from 1990 to 1993 . She then acted as head of the economic department at the embassy in Romania from 1993 to 1997 and as head of the political department at the embassy in Indonesia from 1997 to 1999 .

After her return to Germany, Anna Prinz was employed again in the Foreign Office in Berlin , initially between 1999 and 2002 as deputy head of the EU expansion team and then from 2002 to 2004 as head of the domestic public relations department on the management team Between 2004 and 2006 she was deputy head of the department for communication, public relations and media. Most recently, she acted as the media representative at the Federal Foreign Office from 2006 to 2008 and was then envoy and permanent representative of the ambassador to Japan between 2008 and 2011 . She then returned to the Foreign Office in Berlin between 2011 and 2013, where she was responsible for foreign studies policy and international cultural relations.

Anna Prinz was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Slovenia from 2013 to 2016 as the successor to the retired Werner Burkart .

From the end of July 2016 to the end of June 2019 she was the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Canberra ( Australia ) with simultaneous accreditation for Nauru , Papua New Guinea , Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands . Since July 2019 she has been the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Stockholm ( Sweden ).

Prince has four children.
