Annekatrin Klepsch (born July 30, 1977 in Dresden ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). She is an alderman in the culture and tourism division and second mayor of the state capital Dresden.

Biographical

Klepsch graduated from high school in Dresden-Cotta in 1996 . This was followed by a stay abroad in Kibbutz Nirim , Israel. From 1996 to 2001 she studied theater and cultural studies and sociology at the University of Leipzig and in Vienna . From 2001 to 2002 she was the editor-in-chief of the youth magazine SPIESSER . In 2002 she worked as assistant dramaturge at the Salzburg Festival and at the Berliner Ensemble . From 2003 until she joined the Saxon state parliament , she was the project manager and from 2007 to 2009 the management of the youth association “ Roter Baum eV Dresden”. In the same period (2007–2009) she completed an extra-occupational master’s degree in work and organizational psychology.

Klepsch lives in Dresden and has three children.

Political

Annekatrin Klepsch took on her first political position in 2002 as a local councilor for Dresden-Pieschen and was also a member of the local council (since 2018: city council) Dresden-Neustadt from 2004 to 2009 . Klepsch has been a member of the PDS since 2003 and of the Die Linke party since 2007 . From 2005 to 2009 Annekatrin Klepsch was a member of the PDS / Die Linke Sachsen regional board .

In September 2009 she entered the state parliament of Saxony via the state list . There she was deputy parliamentary group leader, member of the committee for science and universities, art and media and spokeswoman for youth policy and socioculture. In addition, she ran for constituency 12 in the Dresden city council election in 2009 and was elected city councilor. Since then she has been a member of the cultural committee for the Die Linke parliamentary group and is spokesperson for cultural policy. From 2011 to July 2015 she led the city association Die Linke Dresden as second chairman together with Tilo Kießling . For the 2014 local elections, Annekatrin Klepsch ran for first place for constituency 5 (Loschwitz, Bühlau, Pillnitz) for the Dresden city council. With 151 yes-votes (79.1%) she was elected to second place on the LEFT state list for the Saxon state election 2014. She was a member of the state parliament until October 31, 2015.

Klepsch has been Mayor of Culture and Tourism of the state capital of Dresden since November 1st, 2015. It is also preparing Dresden as the cultural capital of 2025.
