Life

Anneliese and her twin brother Hans-Otto Geigenberger, children of the painter Otto Geigenberger , were born in 1914 in the German Empire . Her childhood was overshadowed by the First World War . Not much is known about Anneliese's youth. She accompanied her father on his many trips. During this time she discovered her love for painting. She attended the lyceum . Then she went to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . During her time there, she was a student of Bernhard Bleeker and Olaf Gulbransson . After graduating, she began working as a painter. Her works are known today as Geigenberger reverse glass painting. That time was overshadowed by the Great Depression and the emergence of National Socialism .

She studied interior design in the 1940s . During the Second World War she married her first husband Lorenz Vogelsamer. He served in the German army with the rank of captain . The couple lived in Berlin at the time . After her apartment was destroyed by the Allies during an air raid, she moved to Scheßlitz in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg . There the couple's only daughter was born. Her husband fell when the German troops withdrew from Poland . After the end of the war she married her childhood friend, the manager of the Bilger dairy. The couple had six children together between 1947 and 1958. In the following years she went on numerous trips, which her many pictures attest. Later she also worked as an interior designer. In this context, she acquired half-ruined houses and redesigned them inside. She last lived in Ulm.
