Annette Charles (born Annette Cardona , March 5, 1948 , in Los Angeles , California , † August 3, 2011 ) was an American actress .

Life

Charles was born Annette Cardona in the US state of California . She played episode roles and guest roles in several American television series since the late 1960s , including High Chaparral (1968) Smoking Colts (1970), Bonanza (1972), Emergency Call California (1972; 1974), The Seven Million Dollars -Frau (1976; 1977) and The Man from Atlantis (1977).

She had her best-known role as the attractive, sexy salsa dancer Cha Cha DiGregorio in the musical Grease (1978). She was introduced in the film as the best dancer at St. Bernadette's High School . She played the ex-girlfriend of the movie character Danny Zucco (played by John Travolta ) and current girlfriend of Leo, the leader of the Scorpions gang . In the film, she managed to Danny his new love Sandy ( Olivia Newton-John ) in the dance on the dance floor "snatch" and together with Danny when nationally television transmitted School Dance competition at the Rydell High School occur. Her dance scene with John Travolta is considered "legendary".

She then had other television roles, including in the multi-part television series Colorado Saga (1978) and in the science fiction series The Incredible Hulk (1980). The film database IMDb performed an episode role in the television series Magnum (1987) as her last appearance .

After the end of her career as an actress Charles acquired in 2001 under her maiden name Annette Cardona at the New York University , a Master's Degree in Social Work ( Social Work ). She then taught as a language teacher at California State University, Northridge in Los Angeles.

Charles died at her Los Angeles home at the age of 63 of complications from cancer diagnosed a few months earlier. Charles was hospitalized and hospitalized about four weeks before her death with pneumonia .
