Reviews
In their Science Pie podcast, which appears in German and English, Brockschmidt and Schulz combine bits of knowledge from German and physics in around 15-minute recordings in order to convey “science in an entertaining way”. For Denis Schnur ( Süddeutsche Zeitung ), the podcast stands out from other podcasts with this combination of “somewhat out-of-the-way” humanities and natural sciences, which the two of them would prepare “entertaining, but above all lavishly” with its “fairly wide” range of topics from. The Funke Mediengruppe recommended the podcast 2016 in their blog on the Golden Camera in a list of German and English-language podcasts that you should “absolutely know”. In 2016, Brockschmidt presented the podcast at the “Science Communication Forum” at the invitation of Wissenschaft im Dialog .
In her book “Goethe's Faust & Einstein's Hook”, published in 2017 and aimed at young people from the age of 14, Brockschmidt presented funny or original facts from history, German studies and philosophy, while her co-author Dennis Schulz presented obscure and unexpected things from physics with formulas, quotations and individual performances , Chemistry and Biology held against it. For the science journalist Ulf von Rauchhaupt , some of it appeared “not without entertainment value”, but he criticized “the many factual blunders”. The winged words “ throw pearls before swine ” and “put light under a bushel ” were not translated by Martin Luther , but only literally translated by him from the New Testament . It is also wrong that by using the toothpaste Doramad, which was available until 1945, "the teeth shone blue after brushing" like the fuel elements in the basin of a nuclear reactor. For the educator and philosopher Adelheid Müller-Lissner ( Tagesspiegel ) the authors fought an “unequal battle” with “culture [...] against the science of nature”; They would have passed on their knowledge "with great cheerfulness", which is why one would "like to learn from the two of them".
