Ansgar Krause

Ansgar Krause (* 1956 in Solingen ) is a German concert guitarist , arranger and professor of guitar at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and the Saar University of Music .

life and work

Ansgar Krause grew up in Solingen, where he was born, and graduated from high school in 1975 at the Humboldt Gymnasium there . Then in the same year he began studying school music at the Musikhochschule in Cologne , initially majoring in violin . He later switched to the guitar , which he then concentrated more and more on. In 1976 he was a student of Professor Tadashi Sasaki in Aachen . In 1980 he completed his school music studies with a major in guitar “with distinction”.

Several concert tours led him a. a. to Korea and Egypt . In addition to his solo activity, he has appeared in various chamber music ensembles and with an orchestra ; so u. a. together with Mechthild Georg (vocals), Ludger Lohmann (harpsichord), Michael Krücker (fortepiano), Artus string quartet, Thomas Müller-Pering and Hans-Werner Huppertz (guitar), Michael Schmidt-Casdorff (transverse flute) and Ulrich Hübner (natural horn) . Krause recorded several CDs, some with a guitar duo, which met with approval from national criticism. One focus of his activity is the production and publication of arrangements for guitar, whereby he works with well-known publishers such as Schott Music and Breitkopf & Härtel .

Since 1981 he has been teaching classical guitar at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and since 1986 guitar and other subjects in the field of school music at the Musikhochschule Saar in Saarbrücken . In 1998 he was made an honorary professor.

Ansgar Krause lives in Krefeld .
