Views or I don't know whether it will be accepted ... is a documentary by Dietmar Wolf from 1979 by the University for Film and Television of the GDR, Potsdam-Babelsberg .

action

In December 1978 the film team drove to the State Ballet School on Erich-Weinert-Strasse in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg . Here you will meet a group of female graduates who have completed 7 years of study. It is exam time during which the young dancers have to audition in order to find out after four days which theater they will go to after passing the exam. In order not to disturb, the audition is not accompanied by the cameras. However, discussions can be held with the 17-year-old dancer Lony Nathan, who is still preparing for her exam. We learn from her that she comes from Berlin and that she has two siblings who both work in the theater. Her mother, who now works as an interpreter , was a flamenco dancer in Spain , her father was a chanson singer .

Before the examination board she has to give an assessment of her first years at the ballet school, which she regards as positive overall, even if it did not go without problems. Their conclusion is that the hobby became a profession, what was fun became a duty. She says that she sometimes doubted herself and also sat in the cloakroom to cry because she didn't know what to do with her problems. Then there was another high point, which was usually followed by a fall. But she also explains that dance is like a good friend for her, whom one can trust and who has often helped her. When asked how Lony feels about private life, she explains that she does not share the opinion of many of her classmates that her job comes first and then her private life. Although she loves her job, private life also plays a major role.

When expressing her wishes for future employment, she first mentions the Erich-Weinert-Ensemble , then the Friedrichstadt-Palast and the Metropol-Theater . Lony cannot imagine a theater outside of Berlin, since she has her boyfriend here with whom she would like to build a life together. She is also very close to her mother and siblings. If a theater that is very far away comes into question, she would consider working in a similar profession, such as a pantomime ensemble. The examination board then suggests engagements in Schwerin or Weimar , to which Lony reacts very emotionally. After 20 minutes of deliberation by the commission, she is offered a job at Tanzensemble Berlin. Lony Nathan is happily going to Brandenburg an der Havel to bring the good news to her friend, who is currently in the army there .
