Anthon Frederiksen

Anthon Thue Frederiksen (* 1953 in Illumiut ) is a Greenlandic politician and police officer .

Life

Anthon Frederiksen is the son of his father of the same name († 1987) and his wife Magdaline († 2011). He himself married Margrethe Fleischer in 1978.

From 1971 to 1974 he enjoyed an office training in Ikast . He then trained as a police officer and worked as such for the police in Ittoqqortoormiit , Upernavik , Qeqertarsuaq and Ilulissat .

In 1993 Frederiksen founded the Kattusseqatigiit Partiiat , which he also chaired, but had to wait until 2005 for the party to be recognized as such. Nevertheless, he was allowed to compete and in 1993 moved to the municipal council of the Ilulissat municipality . In 1995 he ran as an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections and was able to get a seat in the Inatsisartut . In 1999 he joined the Kattusseqatigiit Partiiat, which won four seats and became the fourth largest party. In 2001 he became mayor of Ilulissat, which he remained until the administrative reform in 2009. In the 2002 election , his party was the biggest loser and fell back to a seat that Frederiksen occupied. In 2005 he was again the only politician in his party in parliament. In the 2009 election the party lost again slightly, Frederiksen again received the only seat, but this time sat in the government, which would have had a majority even without him. He was Minister for the Interior, Nature and the Environment. In 2013 the CP crashed again and fell to 1.1% of the vote, which meant that the last parliamentary seat was also lost. He then dissolved the party and joined the newly founded Partii Naleraq , for which he ran in the 2014 election. This time he managed to move into Inatsisartut again. In the 2018 election , he received as many votes as Emanuel Nûko , so it had to be drawn who would receive the party's first deputy. The lot went in favor of Nûko, but Anthon Frederiksen was instead appointed Minister for Social Affairs, Family and Justice in the Kielsen III cabinet. The Partii Naleraq left the coalition that same year and he gave up his ministerial office.
