Anthon Petersen

Anton Nikolai Eigel Josva Petersen (mostly Anthon Petersen ; born July 6, 1907 in Paamiut ; † April 1984 ibid) was a Greenland fisherman and councilor .

Life

Anthon Petersen was the son of John Hendrik Ole Petersen (1866–?) And his wife Emilie Cecilie Magdalene Hegelund (1877–?). On August 18, 1929, he married in Arsuk Dina Charlotte Margrethe Emilie Sørensen (1906–?), Daughter of Jakob Silas Seth Josef Sørensen and his wife Erika Cecilie Helene Rasmussen.

He grew up in humble circumstances, but was the first Greenlander to buy a fishing boat in 1952. He became a pioneer of Greenland fishing, which his son Peter in particular continued to pursue to a similar extent.

Anthon Petersen was a member of the local council and was elected after the administrative reform in 1951. In 1963 he was elected to Grønlands Landsråd , where he stayed for one legislative period. In 1967 he was only a deputy.

He was a holder of the Dannebrog Order and died in 1984 at the age of 76 after a long illness.
