Anthony Leopold Raymond Peiris (born August 9, 1932 in Kalaeliya , Sri Lanka , † September 29, 2017 in Kurunegala ) was a Sri Lankan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Kurunegala .

Life

Anthony Leopold Raymond Peiris was ordained a priest on December 20, 1958 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on May 15, 1987 as the first bishop of the diocese of Kurunegala, established on the same date . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Colombo , Nicholas Marcus Fernando , on July 18 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Edmund Joseph Fernando OMI , Bishop of Badulla , and Joseph Kingsley Swampillai , Bishop of Trincomalee-Batticaloa .

On May 14, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
