Edmund Joseph Fernando OMI (born March 25, 1921 in Pitipana , † July 16, 2004 ) was Bishop of Badulla .

Life

Edmund Joseph Fernando joined the Order of the Oblates (OMI) and the Archbishop of Colombo in Ceylon , Thomas Benjamin Cooray OMI, ordained him a priest on August 6, 1949 .

Paul VI appointed him on April 9, 1968 auxiliary bishop in Colombo in Ceylon and titular bishop of Igilgili . The Archbishop of Colombo in Ceylon , Thomas Benjamin Cardinal Cooray OMI, consecrated him on July 17th of the same year as bishop ; Co- consecrators were Anthony de Saram , Bishop of Galle , and Jacob Bastiampillai Deogupillai , Auxiliary Bishop in Trincomalee-Batticaloa .

The Pope appointed him Bishop of Badulla on December 5, 1983 . On March 3, 1997, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
