Since the 2006/07 season Obert has competed regularly in the European Cup. On November 26th, he finished 30th in the Salla slalom for the first time and three days later he achieved his best result of the season with 13th place in the giant slalom in Levi . At the beginning of next winter , the Frenchman achieved the first podium with second place in the second indoor slalom in the ski hall in Landgraaf . For the remainder of the season he reached five other top 10 results. This winter, Obert also took part in World Cup races for the first time . In the five slaloms and one giant slalom in which he started, however, he never made it into the second round. In the 2008/09 European Cup season , a seventh place in the Courchevel slalom and a tenth place in the second slalom in Oberjoch were his best results. In his five World Cup slaloms, which he contested this winter, he was again without result.

On November 7, 2009 Obert took part in the European Indoor Championships in Amnéville . He could not qualify for the finals and finished 24th. Almost three weeks later he achieved his second podium in the European Cup: In Levi's second giant slalom on November 26th, he only had to admit defeat to the Czech Kryštof Krýzl . The day before he had finished fourth in the first giant slalom. On December 21, 2009 Obert won his first World Cup points with 19th place in the slalom on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia . This is also his best World Cup result so far. He was able to score a second time three weeks later, finishing 20th in the Adelboden slalom . On March 7, 2010 Obert won his first European Cup race, the slalom in Platak . With a total of four podium places, he reached second place in the EC overall ranking in the 2009/10 season . Obert had to end the 2010/11 season early because of a serious injury to his right knee that he suffered during training in Les Arcs at the end of December .
