Anthony Principi

Anthony Joseph Principi, Jr. (born April 16, 1944 in New York City ) is an American economic manager and former United States Secretary of War .
biography
After attending the Mount St. Michael Academy in Bronx , he studied at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis , where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in 1967 . He completed his military service in the US Navy and took part in the Vietnam War , among other things, during his military service until 1980 . For his military services he was awarded a Bronze Star with the Combat Distinguishing Device band . In the meantime, he completed postgraduate studies at the Law School of Seton Hall University in Manhattan with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in 1975 and then worked for the Judge Advocate General's Corps , the highest judicial authority in the US armed forces. Most recently, between 1980 and 1989, he was legal advisor in the US Department of the Navy .
In January 1989 he became Deputy Secretary of the War ( Deputy US Secretary of Veterans Affairs ) and as such was last from September 26, 1992 to January 20, 1993 Acting US Secretary of Veterans Affairs ( Acting US Secretary of Veterans Affairs ).
He then worked for some time in the private sector and, from 1995 to 1996, was Senior Vice President of the defense and technology company Lockheed Martin and a board member of the Mutual of Omaha insurance company .
On January 23, 2001, Anthony Principi was appointed Secretary of Veterans Affairs by President George W. Bush in his cabinet . He held this cabinet post until the end of Bush's first term on January 26, 2005. In this capacity, in 2001 he was also on the so-called List of Designated Survivors .
After retiring from government service, he returned to the private sector, where he is, among other things, Chairman of the Board of QTC Management , a company commissioned by the War Veterans Ministry.
