Antje Babendererde

Antje Babendererde (* 1963 in Jena ) is a German writer. She writes novels for teenagers and adults about the life of the North American Indians .

Life and professional history

Antje Babendererde was born in 1963 and moved with her parents to Gotha at the age of three , where she graduated from the Arnoldischule in 1982 . 1983 to 1985 she did a pottery apprenticeship in Saalfeld . Until 1990 she worked as a hoarder , potter and occupational therapist in a specialist hospital for psychiatry and neurology and had her own pottery workshop.

She has been a freelance writer since 1996 with a particular interest in the culture, history and contemporary situations of the American Indians in North America . Her novels on this topic for adults and young people are based on intensive research and trips to the USA . In addition, she is a member of the writers' association (VS) in ver.di , of which she is a member of the regional executive committee in Thuringia . Some of Babendererde's novels have been translated into French , Lithuanian , Czech and Hungarian . Several of the youth novels have also appeared as audio books, some of which made it onto the hr2 audio book top list (e.g. Indigosommer ).

Antje Babendererde has two children and lives with her husband in Liebengrün in Thuringia.

filming

A movie based on the novel Dragonfly Summer is currently in preparation. The producer kinderfilm is developing the project together with the Canadian co-producer Red Cedar Films, the script was written by Scarlett Kleint . A planned release date for the film has not yet been announced.
