Antoine Koné (born January 10, 1963 in Ferkéssedougou , Ivory Coast , † May 8, 2019 in Abidjan , Ivory Coast) was an Ivorian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Odienné .

Life

Antoine Koné studied philosophy at the seminary in Yopougon and Catholic theologian at the seminary in Anyama . On December 28, 1991 he received the sacrament of ordination in Katiola . From 1991 to 1997 he was a teacher of French, Latin and geography at the Minor Seminary in Katiola and at the same time pastor in the Cathedral of Katiola and in various parishes in the diocese of Katiola . He was also committed to training young people and teachers in elementary and middle schools. From 1996 to 1998 he completed a doctorate in dogmatics at the Université Catholique de l'Afrique de l'Ouest in Abidjan. From 1997 to 2009 he was professor of dogmatic theology and Latin at the interdiocesan seminary in Anyama and in the training center of the Society of Africa Missions .

On July 1, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Odienné. The retired Archbishop of Abidjan , Bernard Cardinal Agré , donated him episcopal ordination on August 22nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Gagnoa , Joseph Yapo Aké , and the Bishop Emeritus of Daloa , Pierre-Marie Coty .

Antoine Koné was involved in the Bishops' Conference of the Ivory Coast (Cecci) and was President of the Episcopal Commissions for the Doctrine of the Faith and Social Pastoral Care.
